Outreach Ministries

We have recently donated our 10,000th bear as a result of the hard work of the dedicated members of the Bear Ministry.

Members of this ministry spend time at home cutting out patterns, painting whimsical faces, and sewing bears. On the 4th Monday of the month the group gathers at 9:30 am to stuff the bears, stitch them up and send them on their way. Our bears represent the love of our congregation to those in the hospital, children in orphanages, people in mission fields, families who visit the area health departments and the children served by our local fire and emergency crews.

Teens At Shelter

Our Shelter Outreach is a partnership between our congregation and the Salvation Army Men's Shelter in nearby Petersburg, Virginia. Teams of volunteers prepare and serve breakfast to the men in residence on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturday mornings of the month. This outreach was expanded recently to include a meal on the 3rd Tuesday evening of each month. Our goal in this area is to bring the aroma of Christ to the shelter and remind the men that they are cared for deeply, physically with a hot meal and spiritually by our heavenly Father.

Dunlop House is a residential assisted living facility in our community that houses an Alzheimer's unit. Volunteers from the congregation meet each Tuesday at 10:00 am to help the staff with the scheduled activity of the day. We assist in cooking, crafting and even spelling bees! On the 4th Sunday of each month Cameron Avenue holds a worship service for the residents. We enjoy a time of singing, prayer, scripture reading and exhortation. It is our hope that we glorify God with our worship and assure the residents that they are remembered by our congregation and our God.

House to House Mailing

The Senior Saints meet bimonthly to assemble House to House/Heart to Heart, an inspirational magazine that is distributed free to families in the neighborhoods surrounding our church. The goal of this outreach is to provide godly reading material to families and to alert them of our presence as a place to worship and be healed in Colonial Heights, Virginia.

Pack The Pulpit

The Food Pantry at Cameron Avenue is used to meet the needs of families in our community. Requests for food are received on Wednesday mornings, between the hours of 9-noon. Each year in October we begin a special collection for Pack the Pulpit. Non- perishable items are collected each Sunday for five weeks and brought down front to the pulpit by the children during worship. It is a blessing to watch the pile grow! At the end of the collection period, baskets are put together containing all the ingredients for a full Thanksgiving meal and distributed to families on our benevolence list.
